‘Walk the Line’ producer James Keach and Linda Ronstadt’s manager, John Boylan are set to create a biopic about Linda Ronstadt.
Just announced today, Selena Gomez is the first to be cast in a biopic about Linda Ronstadt. Gomez, who is also of Mexican decent along with Ronstadt, is set to play the 11-time grammy winner. As of now, Gomez along with producer James Keach and Ronstadt’s manager, John Boylan, are the only ones confirmed for the project. A director and additional cast members, as well as a distributor have are not a part of the project at the moment.
Ronstadt’s official Facebook and Instagram accounts posted a news story about the movie Wednesday and added the message, “It all started with a simple dream.” Gomez first teased the film Tuesday by sharing a photo of Ronstadt’s 2013 memoir, Simple Dreams, to her Instagram Stories. Simple Dreams is also the name of Ronstadt’s 1977 album that has been certified triple-platinum.
Ronstadt, 77, is known for her decades-spanning music career that includes 24 studio albums and the No. 1 hit “You’re No Good.” She was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April 2014 and was feted with the 2019 Kennedy Center Honors for lifetime achievement.
She has been diagnosed with progressive supranuclear palsy, a degenerative disease that has led her to retire from singing.
