Following the immense success of the first film, which secured six Academy Awards®, Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Entertainment have initiated the production of the much-anticipated sequel, “Dune: Part Two.” The film, once again helmed by Oscar nominee Denis Villeneuve, director of the first installment and renowned for works like “Arrival” and “Blade Runner 2049,” is set to continue the epic adaptation of Frank Herbert’s acclaimed novel, DUNE.

The stellar cast from the first film will return, featuring Oscar nominee Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar winner Javier Bardem, Oscar nominee Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Oscar nominee Charlotte Rampling, and Stephen McKinley Henderson. Joining them are Austin Butler as the infamous Feyd Rautha, screen legend Christopher Walken as the Emperor, Florence Pugh, Léa Seydoux, and Souheila Yacoub, rounding out the impressive ensemble.

“Dune: Part Two” delves into the mythic journey of Paul Atreides as he allies with Chani and the Fremen, embarking on a vengeful quest against those who dismantled his family. Faced with a pivotal choice between love and the fate of the universe, Paul strives to avert a dire future only he can foresee.

Denis Villeneuve, along with co-writer Jon Spaihts, adapts Herbert’s novel for the screenplay. The production team includes Denis Villeneuve, Mary Parent, Cale Boyter, Tanya Lapointe, and Patrick McCormick as producers. Executive producers include Josh Grode, Herbert W. Gains, Brian Herbert, Byron Merritt, Kim Herbert, Thomas Tull, Jon Spaihts, Richard P. Rubinstein, and John Harrison, with Kevin J. Anderson serving as creative consultant.

The creative team reunites with cinematographer Greig Fraser, costume designer Jacqueline West, and make-up, hair, and prosthetic designer Donald Mowat. The score will once again be crafted by multiple Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer. Villeneuve collaborates with production designer Patrice Vermette, editor Joe Walker, visual effects supervisor Paul Lambert, and special effects supervisor Gerd Nefzer.

Filming for “Dune: Part Two” is taking place in Budapest, Abu Dhabi, Jordan, and Italy. The film is scheduled for a global release on November 17, 2023, courtesy of Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Entertainment.
